The Story of The Pink Stuffed Pig
I've been prepping today for our next shoot day. Which is on Thursday the 20th. One of the joys of being an indie director is that you also get to do 5 million other jobs that a well paid director would be able to delegate to other people. But alas there is a joy in doing it yourself. One you don't have to answer to anyone, and two it feels so much more rewarding on the shoot day because your blood sweat and tears have been put in so much of it. I digress. So one of the rooms we are filming in on Thursday needs to look girly so I went to the goodwill to see if they have any pink foofy stuff. I got a pink stuffed animal pig, two pink pillows, and two pink vases for 14$. When I was there looking for items I ran into someone I knew from my Blockbuster Video days. I tapped him to say hi. He was like, "Hey. How's it going? Dez right?" And I said, "Yeah....so how's your brother doing?" (I had forgotten his name so I tried to divert the attention away from that by asking about his brother.) And of course I looked like a bum when I ran into him. And at The Goodwill for that matter! lol. In a perfect world I would have been wearing a nice suit and surrounded by an entourage of people just making me look oh so cool. But instead I’m wearing these old holed up jeans. An old t shirt. Old converse. And I need a haircut and a shave. And I had this old dingy backpack. I was so embarrassed. And to top it off, I have a giant pink stuffed pig I’m holding.” He looked at it and said, “Do you have a daughter or something?” And I said, “Oh no! it’s for a scene we are doing. I'm doing indie films now and for one of the scenes we need a girly looking room so...” the more I tried to explain it the worse it sounded. Like when you tell a joke that no one gets so you try to explain the joke and that just makes the joke worse. It was embarrassing. lol. So hilarious. He probably thinks I’m a psycho killer that likes to collect pink pigs or something. lol. 😝

Jury Duty and the Bruce Wayne Incident
Wow! I haven't posted here in 10 years. May goodness how time flies. I was supposed to be the next Denzel Washington living in a mansion surrounded by my millions of dollars, Judge Judy, and Chris Hemsworth by now. Alas I'm still in my dingy apartment in NoHo broke as a joke. Lol. I did jury duty today. That was exciting. Well, I pretty much waited around all day at the courthouse to be called and at the very last minute they called me and a large group of others to the courtroom. I had my reason as to why I couldn't serve on jury duty (the lawyer looked too much like Ben Affleck and I'll do anything Ben Affleck tells me to do so I'd have a hard time not going with what that particular lawyer wanted. True story.), but the judge said that the case was going to be around two months long so if anyone had a reason not to serve, raise their hand. Me and about 70 percent of the room raised our hands. I told him, and this is the truth, that I'm self employed. That was all he needed to here. Self employed in Los Angeles. Yeah. Can't really afford to get off work for that long. So I was excused along with a lot of people at 4pm, and then I got to go home. I was surprised that everyone didn't raise their hand but there were several people that were retired so they had the time to do it. I'm going to stop talking now.....the lawyer did look like Ben Affleck though. I was honestly going to say that. I mean come on. Put yourself in my shoes. You're sitting as a juror and Bruce Wayne walks up to you and say, "Please find this man guilty. Come on he did it." I'd say, "Yes Batman. I trust you." Then the entire courtroom looks at me like I'm insane. Which I clearly am. lol

Cops and Cops
Well this is a bit ironic. I was watching Cops on TV in the "living room" (aka my bedroom) while Jerad and Danny were in Danny's room playing the guitar and sax. Apparently they were too loud because someone started knocking on the front door like they were the police. So i opened the door and it WAS the police. I got so excited and said, "HI! You guys are on TV right now. Well not you literally but i'm watching you on TV. Not you literally but Cops is on." They told me the music was too loud. So i apologized and told them i'd tell them to stop.

Monday and H2O Falls From the Sky
Well its raining outside and like most Californians, we don't know what to do when water falls from the sky. I suppose because it never does out here. So no one wants to leave the house. I'm off from work today and i want to be productive, so i've constructed a list of things to do while i'm at home; work on my resume, clean the apartment, do my at-home workout routine; catch up on my letter writing, catch up on my reading. Jerad came out of the bathroom just now and told me that he did the worst thing and dropped his ring in the toilet so he had to fish it out while the toilet was full of his poop. I told him to get a stick from outside or something but he said he had already used his hands. Good doggit! lol. Oh well.....i would have used a stick.
